This was a very interestingly gripping whodunit, out the gate this story will keep you hooked and the deeper you read the more you wanted to read. LISA , lisa, lisa....my, my, my. This was a whole total different read and I can say that I was on the edge of my seat wanting to know more .....the whole time I thought I had the story but it had more twist and turns leaving you at square one....Neicy P your thing with this one but I need a part 2 please

Boy oh boy. This was a roller coaster ride. It was definitely not what I expected and that ending had me literally screaming. I didn’t expect it and I pray we find out what happens next

This book was a little different than I expected but it was definitely interesting. Good plot twist at the end!

I’m so disappointed in this book! This author has so many other books I will recommend in a heart beat however this book was stupid and a waste of time!!! The whole time I was reading I didnt enjoy it but I just knew the ending would be amazing however I didn’t like the ending either! If this is your first book by the author and you don’t enjoy don’t stop reading her work she has some AMAZING books some of my favorites so give a different book a try don’t let this one stop you from reading her work.

This gave this book 5 🌟 because it was so much more than what I thought it was going to be about. I thought it was one thing and I was all the way wrong, I only had one thing right that I guess while I was reading and that was who Aunt Janet but I kept reading and changed my mind that's how good this book is. Like, for example, To Kill A Mockingbird (Scout, Jem, and Dill)... and Dandelion Wine (Doug and Tom)... and Peace Like A River (Reuben, Swede, and Davy). Something Wicked This Way Comes, starring Jim Nightshade and Will Halloway, is no exception. The fact that the boys are basically complete opposites makes me love them more!Know what else I've found I enjoy? Books with strong mentors. Like, for example, To Kill A Mockingbird (Atticus)... and Dandelion Wine (every single one of Doug's older, wiser relatives)... and Peace Like A River (Jeremiah). In Something Wicked This Way Comes, Charles Halloway plays this role. His guidance helps Jim and Will to grow, and their willingness to let him guide them is imperative to Charles' development as well.I think I could fairly easily write a ten-page essay about the complexities of Something Wicked -- the idea of good vs. evil, young vs. old, happy vs. sad, dark vs. light -- but I'm struggling to write a brief review. I love it too much to gloss over its depth and messages and awesomeness.But know this: I do love it. I love it so, so much.

A story filled with wild imaginations, the king of fantasy and mystery Ray Bradbury writes such a story that takes place during the heart of one of the most haunting months of the year October Something Wicked This Way Comes. Inspired after a meeting and visit with Bradbury’s heroes Actor, Dance, and Director extraordinaire Gene Kelly, Bradbury reworked a short story that had been tucked away The Black Ferris and revived it in novel form in 1962 and later made into a film; noted in the afterword at the end of the book, originally Kelly was asked if he could direct a film adaptation but plans fell through until 15 years later when a script would be written and the eventual film produced by Jack Clayton of Kelly’s “Invitation to Dance” would be made by Disney in 1983.Readers familiar with any Bradbury story, there are always twists and turns within each page from short stories to novels as well as lessons to be learned in the aftermath. Something Wicked This Way Comes is that type of story, which begins with a quaint backdrop in small town America and what appears to be quite normal, two young boys Jim and Will that happen to enjoy the outdoors and adventure. It so happens that on October 24, their Halloween comes early when the carnival comes to town. And by the end of the story, there is no doubt that the boys will have aged beyond their 13 years, 11 months, and 24 days old.One suggestion, it may be best to read the novel before watching the film adaptation in order to experience the extremely descriptive and vivid imagery of Ray Bradbury’s writing.

Magic This is the umpteenth time that I have read ‘Something Wicked this way Comes’. I love almost all of Bradbury’s books but this by far is my favorite. This was the first time that I have read it on one of my devices which did not take away from the story one spit. The first time I read this book I was 13 years old and it bowled me over. I have probably read again about every five years since then and each time it is a new and awesome experience. I had never ever read anything like it before when I was 13 years old. The only other book that I have read about youth that is near its equal is McCammon’s ‘Boy’s Life” and his prose doesn’t even come close to Bradbury though his story is a fun and deliciously well written story. But it is Bradbury’s prose that sets his book higher than any other. I know this is not every body’s cup of tea , his style of prose but for me it was a like a ride on a roller coaster the first time I read it. His prose was new, exciting and so startlingly different it took my breath away. He made me giddy with the power of words. I titled this review ‘Magic’. Because in my mind this is a book of Magic. In ancient times Words was associated with Magic. Words had power to create and to destroy. In some ways I believe that this is still true because Bradbury understood the power of words like no other Author I have ever read. He brought Magic to life in Something Wicked that literally vibrated with essence and depth. He made Magic Real. I am a professional oral storyteller and I have been telling stories to audiences for over 15 years. As an oral storyteller I paint on a different kind of canvas than the writer does and I am forced to use a distinctive flavor of descriptive language to draw my audience into my world. What I like most about this book is that it’s in plain English, not “legalese” and the example scenarios of some concepts. What I wish it had more of is a few more specifics and examples on searches and seizures and sentencing. Or a section in the back to look through statutes for every state. Overall, it’s very thorough and interesting. Ive recommended it to a friend who is navigating the legal system.

It is important that everyone should understand their rights especially when speaking to the police. You should be aware of your most important right, the right to remain silent. Remember silence is golden because if you don't say it the police can not use it against you. Answer only what your required to answer such as name, DOB, address and drivers license information. Other than the weather do not say or offer any other information. If you are being asked for additional information stop and ask if you are the subject of an investigation. If the answer is yes, immediately invoke your 5th amendment right to remain silent and tell them you won't speak to them without an attorney representing you is present. If you are asked to come in to answer some question and you are not the victim, do not do so without having an attorney with you. Spending a couple of hundred dollars now may save you thousands later, don't be pound wise and penny foolish. If you are arrested say nothing without an attorney. It is reasonable to believe they have already have established probable cause to make the arrest so don't add fuel to the fire by providing any more information other than what is required. Trying to talk your way out only tends to dig the hole deeper as what you say will more than likely be documented. Again, SAY NOTHING and invoke your rights. This book is also very good of explaining the prosecution process as a whole from arraignment, bail, trial, plea bargaining and sentencing. Anyone who has a family member in the criminal justice system pipeline will have a better understanding about the in's and out's of the criminal justice Process and what may happen Just remember to say absolutely nothing and invoke you right to remain silent when in doubt.

pretty good for probably everyone to read in the guilty until proven innocent culture we have in many places today

This book does a great job in explaining the different aspects of the courtroom and there are several definitions that may be easily understood by the average reader. On top of this, there are several examples to explain each topic that is being covered. I gave this book four stars, mainly because it is a book that references things that go on in the courtroom but not how to present it in any fashion. In example, you may know what the Hearsay rule is, but how do you introduce it during your court procedure? This book wouldn't go that far in depth. At least in my opinion. Bottom line: great book if you don't know anything about the court system.

Ordered this for a friend fighting a criminal case, he said this book is very useful and he learned/is learning a lot. He was VERY grateful that I sent it to him in jail 👍🏼👍🏼 and good luck

Nolo puts out terrific books, that's all there is to it. This one is no exception. You'll feel as qualified as Perry Mason (Am I dating myself?) after reading it. OK, maybe not that good, but I doubt if any better book exists that covers all the bases in a general, yet thorough, manner as this one does. Feel confident in pleading "not guilty."

This is an excellent introduction to Criminal Law in the USA. It’s a good preparation for in depth law school books.

Very good. Using this book and a few other NOLO books I researched my criminal case, acted as my own lawyer, AND WON MY CASE here in Colorado. Knowing that I was not guilty and using these good NOLO resources really helped. I'm not saying that YOU will have the same results, but using these materials and a little common sense REALLY helped me.

I liked Vikirnoff from his appearances in Dark Destiny and Dark Secret, and in this book, he doesn't disappoint. Even though Destiny repeatedly calls him a caveman and he readily admits to knowing nothing about women, he displays a very open and understanding mind when it comes to his lifemate, Natalya, even going so far as to develop a sense of humor.I loved Natalya's snarky, sarcastic quips, her horror movie references, and how she drives Vik crazy since he was expecting June Cleaver and ended up with Xena, the Warrior Princess. Being an ancient Carpathian/Mage/Dragonseeker, I thought I would be spared the "suffering" of having to read through the conversion of a human woman so prevalent in this series, but it seems there is no escaping that event in this series and it's reused continually....as if we need the reminder in EVERY book that it is (supposedly) like a "blowtorch" and that childbirth will be a piece of cake afterwards and the big, strong, warrior-hunter becomes a wuss during the process. Bleh!Natalya is a strong heroine who has mastered her own gifts and abilities so I didn't have to deal with the Feehan redundancy of the newbie who has to learn everything. What she doesn't know (like how to make the vampy guys stay dead) she's very creative in improvising.Cameo appearances by Prince Mikhail and Raven, Falcon and Sara, and Joie's siblings Jubal and Gabrielle, along with more plot development of the Dragonseeker backstory (Who was responsible for the Dragon lightning in the sky that Vik and Natalya witness???) is enough incentive to read this book.IF you can stomach the cheesy "feminine channel" descriptive writing, overlook ALL of the typos, AND the inconsistencies of 1) the physical description of Natalya is drastically different than what Nicolae describes for Vikirnoff in Dark Destiny, 2) the fact that Vikirnoff apparently suffers from short-term memory loss and has forgotten that in the book Dark Secret, Rafael imparts the information that Colby Jansen bears the Dragonseeker birthmark, yet tells Natalya in THIS book that he only knows of only TWO remaining (she and Dominic) from the Dragonseeker lineage, and 3) that this book takes place in the same time frame as several of the older books (Dark Dream, Dark Descent, Dark Magic, Dark Fire, Dark Melody) where Gregori is notably absent in his duty as protector/second to the Prince and, therefore, it can be somewhat confusing, then this is a pretty good read.

This book was enchanting, enthralling and endlessly entertaining where stubbornness and determination to rise above conflict with a core of steel to get to where love and happiness lives! Memories and ideas are in conflict within Natalya who only wants to be left alone but then Vikirnoff comes along with solutions to her memories.There are fight scenes and love scenes galore but all is needed to make the story come alive and shine. I recommend this book 📖.

It has everything: romance, action, magik, history, humor, friendship, two peacefully co-existing plots, and, of course, a little sex (don't like the scenes? Skip 'em!).The story of the main two lifemates is told in vivid detail, thankfully not relegated to subplot status. The time Feehan takes in developing the relationship between Natalya and Vikirnoff only adds to each battle sequence. Couple that with the co-plot of the vampires and wizards vs. Carpathians, and the truth about the increasing struggle for survival of both sides is finally brought into fascinating focus.I thought it would be annoying to revisit all the characters mentioned in previous books, but it only added to the interest for me. Knowing what became of them all, knowing that they had survived and made lives for themselves. It was gratifying.Don't worry about the addendum's at the back...some people like them, some people don't. I didn't both with them, and I don't feel like I lost anything.This isn't meant to be a deep, philosophical book. But it's cohesive, well-written, doesn't insult your intelligence and leaves you wanting more. You could not ask for a better installment, and the questions answered in this book make it a fulfilling read to faithful followers of the Dark Series. So just read it, already!

I know there are those readers who will disagree with me but this is my favorite Carpathian novel yet! Natalya is my mind of heroine. She is a spitfire yet vulnerable. A perfect match for " Vic" a rather stoic hunter sent to find and protect her from those who would harm her. His !lifemate!!

This is one of my favorites in the Dark Series. First, it's a big, fat book and you definitely get your money's worth. Second, I LOVE the characters. This was the 2nd book of the Dark Series that I read (the first was Dark Destiny - which I also loved), and I went on to read the entire Series. Some of the books are better than others, but on the whole, I love the strong female characters, arrogant "I'll teach you to submit" males who ultimately end up putty in their womans' hands, and that there is a common thread running throughout the entire series..which is why it's a series ;-) I think the graphic parts could be minimized, just because after awhile it seems like the same old, same old, but hey I know how to skip to the next page, so no biggie. Wouldn't recommend to my mama, but my sisters would love this series!

I enjoy how the author connects one book to the next. Introducing each character then filling in details that brings a sense of reality as the separate characters merge and interact.

If you like supernatural books, then Christine Feehan is the author for you! the "Dark" series is a great read...(she has more coming out in 2014 in this series) This story will draw you in....Carpathian Hunters.........hunting the undead....and in the centuries of hunting. The Carpathian Hunter, loosing their emotions & ability to see colors, must find their lifemate or loose their soul to the darkness.....THeir lifemate keeps them from going into the darkness, & returns the abilty to see and to feel emotions.....

Extensive beds of these herbs have been destroyed by over harvesting.

His interactions with those he met are compelling and offer to many of us a glimpse of people and cultures we're not likely to have the opportunity to meet ourselves. If you are looking for an authoritative and informative book on the Ark of the Covenant, my advice is for you to keep looking and pass this one by. If however, you are looking for information about the lost decendents of ancient Isreal, this is for you. I also get the distinct impression that Mr. Parfitt is one of those types that only looks for those facts that fit his particular theories. I can't quite buy into them. Mainly because he doesn't seem to have any respect for anyone's religous beliefs and constanly refers to them as "cults". He doesn't believe that the ancient Isrealites had the tools, material or ability to construct a gold covered ark, even though they were the artisans and craftsmen of Eygpt and had all of the spoils of Eygpt with them. Doesn't seem to bother him that they made a golden calf to worship though. Wonder how they did that? He discounts all the testomony of the power and presence of God and replaces it with a crude wooden drum and theories of gunpowder or some other inflammable material. If you are interested in the history of the Lemba, by all means buy this book. It has some interesting parts, but nothing that I would consider relevant to the present whereabouts of the Lost Ark of the Covenant.

This book was perfect for my 3rd grader doing research on Stevie Wonder! Easy to read, informative and gave info in chronological order. There is whole page explanations on things a young reader may not understand when reading in text: what is a synthesizer? What is segregation? What are the Blues?. Gives a snapshot page of important events at the back of the book. Also has illustrations to help captivate a young reade. This had all the info my daughter needed in one place for her paper!

Really love these books for my daughter. She is learning so much about heroes and people who can inspire her to think big.
