We love Science comics! This is a house hold favorite along with Maris Wick's Human Body Theater. What a colorful, hilarious, and informational way to learn about trees. My daughter and I enjoyed the humor in this book and definitely gained even more respect for trees,

My son loves this series and the author Andy Hirsch in particular. Inspired, I gave copies to my nieces and they also love the series. Looking forward to more. (Kids have loved these from 2nd to 5th grade so far )

My kids love these comics. The read and reread these books to the point where they can spout all sorts of fun science facts. The topics introduced in the different books has also led us to fun family discussions of various topics in biology, etc. that have really opened the door for grasping science concepts.

Although Hirsch tries to capture the cute with his narrator, an acorn, this is instead a volume more about knowledge, and there’s plenty covered. A frog, a leaf, a beetle, a squirrel, and a woodpecker all try to talk the acorn into accepting his fate of being a tree by describing how impressive they are. As a result, we learn about* germination and how roots form* what determines direction of tree growth and how it’s affected by environment* where trees get energy and their place in the ecosystem* the difference between trees and plants* why trees have bark* different types of trees and species diversity* flowers, pollen, seeds, and fruit* the fungi-based mycorrhizal network of communication* and why trees are greenThere’s a ton of information packed in here! Even with all this, Hirsch keeps the pages visually interesting through his acorn’s expressions and gestures. It’s amazing how expressive a simple shape can be in the right hands. That’s why bits of this information will stick with me. A favorite lesson was the one on different types of symbiotic relationships. Hirsch does a terrific job with both anthropomorphized creatures and more realistic forest settings.There’s a lot of specialty vocabulary about cells and tree structures, so the five-page glossary in the back is a helpful resource. Howard E. Barbaree, PhD, is Professor and Head, Law and Mental Health Program, Department of Psychiatry, University of Toronto, and Clinical Director, Law and Mental Health Program, Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He has devoted much of his career to research, teaching, and clinical practice related to sexual aggression and sexual deviance. Dr. Barbaree has published numerous journal articles and book chapters and is coeditor of the Handbook of Sexual Assault: Issues, Theories, and Treatment of the Offender (1990). He has served as a member of the National Institute of Mental Health Violence and Traumatic Stress Grant Review Committee and received the Significant Achievement Award from the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers in 2000. In 2004 Dr. Barbaree began a 4-year term as editor of Sexual Abuse: A Journal of Research and Treatment.William L. Marshall, PhD, is Professor Emeritus of Psychology and Psychiatry at Queen's University and Director of Rockwood Psychological Services, Kingston, Ontario, Canada, which provides sex offender treatment in two Canadian federal penitentiaries. Dr. Marshall has 35 years of experience in assessment, treatment, and research with sexual offenders and has over 300 publications, including 16 books. I love Ethic from Moth to a Flame.I must say. I did like the book, but there was alot of internal dialogue. To the point where. I was kinda getting bored. All in all I gravitated to Morgan and Messiah’s strory. I found Alani’s character to be much too, tragic. And her and Ethic’s relationship took way too long to develop. And, then it fizzled out the next day😕 I will be looking forward for the next installment. But, if the story goes on and on. Like the Prada Plan I will gladly bow out. This book kind of was too heavy at times. I love Ethic but he is much too depressing. That coupled with Alani made me speed read thru it. As they were kinda killing my vibe, too🤷🏾‍♀️

I was very upset with this book ethic did not find love and he never had a chance for love, I'm so confused because I thought she told us in the Prada plan that Yaya baby was ethics but that was not true. I loved messiah and Morgan relationship,but Ethics relationship was doomed from the start why did the book have him trying to love a woman that he took everything from there was never an actual chance for them to have a happily every after. This book was long and took forever to get to the point and we never really got to the point. I have been a fan for years I have read everything she has wrote but this book was a real disappointment Ethic is still lonely and back at square 1.

Im their number one for sure so i was to pressed with her coming out with a spin off to ethic....number1 mouth to a flame is one of my favs by her and then the prada plan 4 love and war OMG i been fell inlove with him...he is a damage man but he's just really a teddy bear... and i love me some messiah too...im curious to see how ethic reacts when he finds out that messiah and morgan are together but he's really not the one to judge seeing all that he's done....idk.. the way ashely right her books just pulls the reader into the book...i feel EVERY emotion when reading any book she wrights ...when the characters cries i cry when they are happy after so much drama, I'm happy with them....oh and dont get me started on the sex senses😌😶. Im sad to have to wait a whole year for the next book to be released but its worth the wait...ive never been disappointed in none of the books shes wrote so i guess wait.. i just hope ethic finally finds love he's been so much!!!

I can’t put it in wording because I’m not even sure if the words are even invented yet... to keep it simple, this book was amazing. The writing and the plot was so great and satisfying. Ethic goes through so many emotions and we finally see a real vulnerable side of him. Yes he can be a bad person but only when provoked. My heart hurt for Alani i don’t think they’re doomed however i do think it’ll take a miracle for them to ever have anything again. Cream is going to fail at trying to kill him... gosh i wish he would give up the thought because it’s not gonna end well for him; he probably has the wrong person anyhow... Ethic isn’t that easy to find or to get information on.I can’t wait for the next installment. Thank you Ashley you never fail me. I’ve been reading your books for close to 15 years now and I have yet to be disappointed.

Good Lord...Ethic has to be the unluckiest man alive at times, dude can't find love or execute a hit correctly to save his life.When he does find a women that he is somewhat interested in, it's always the ones that are damaged, broken and needs saving. He need to get with a boss..because these damsel in distress a** females ain't it for him.I honestly thought this book was going to blow me away but it was mediocre at best. Yes Ethic is a good man from what the author has portrayed but his character lacks excitement....which makes him come off as dry and boring. There was no hope for him and Alani to ever have a happily ever after especially once the truth was revealed. That relationship was doomed from the start. As a reader I felt lead on and in the end Ethic was right back to square one.As for Morgan and Messiah, their story was quite interesting. Morgan was just as green as her sister was. Young and thought she knew everything. Yet Im curious to see how her and Messiah will evolve as a couple. The last we heard of them in the book they were naked eating pizza on the counter.I'm looking forward to reading the sequel but we got to give Ethic some excitement. Dude is just sad and depressing.

Great book from her as always. But without a serious spoiler alert, there something different about Morgan that is inconsistent with here character in "Moth to a Flame". I wont tell it but if you read Moth again you'll notice it about her, especially her birthday party. Weird. This is why I couldn't give it a 5 star.Update- since most of us have read it by now. How is it that Morgan is Def? In "Moth to a flame" on her 9th birthday party she spoke and spoke well, and i dont remember her losing her voice. Can someone tell me what i missed? but this books says she's always been def but she hasn't always been.

This is much more than a collection of lawyer-jokes. Galanter analyses the sociology and history behind the various categories of jokes and their ebbs and flows.

Very funny lawyer jokes. I am enjoying them.

There are plenty of lawyer-bashing books, but this is not one of them. Rather, like a modern Mark Twain, Marc Galanter uses lawyer jokes to reflect trends in American society. Through thousands of jokes and cartoons that mock lawyers and legalization, he shows on how the legal system is influencing and being influenced by changing relationships between individuals, between citizens and government, and between consumers and corporations. Lawyer jokes are popular because lawyers still fight and win for the little guy. A good read for your favorite lawyer or lawyer-to-be.

I thought about starting this review with one of the hundreds of lawyer jokes that are "told" and given life in this excellent book, but I wouldn't want to spoil the punch lines.The author, evidencing an extrodinarily broad range of knowledge, shows how lawyer jokes have evolved over time (and how some jokes previously targetted at Jews, minorities, and businessmen have evolved into lawyer jokes), and how this evolution reflects larger changes in society about attitudes towards law and individual rights.In addition, the artwork in the book combines so old favorites from The New Yorker, plus older drawings from earlier centuries.This is a great book for lawyers and for those who like to make fun of lawyers -- basically, everybody.

Conrad Bessant is the founder and head of the Cranfield University Bioinformatics Group, and designed the University's popular MSc in Applied Bioinformatics, which has been running since 2002. GOOD INTRODUCTORY BOOK. BRIEF INTRO FOR ALL USED COMPUTER LANGUAGES.

This book really helps to understand how one can use countless possibilities of modern bioinformatics through publicly available tools. I appreciate the inner logic of the text and accurate description of methods. Authors did a great work! I recommend this book to all biologists, who, like me, want to analyse their data themselves and in efficient way.

I have formal education in Bioinformatics, however applied Bioinformatics is somewhat different. This book is a great stepping stone for those who want to work as Bioinformatics analysts, developers etc.

This is a very nice bioinformatics book. Concise and touching the point. Covers the very basic and practical skills on developing computational skills on biological question. After reading this book, I'm almost equipped the right tools, skills and directionality for practical research problems and more thoughtful organizations on my database. Highly recommend for everyone!

This is a very introductory book. It will get you started and up to the point where you can continue by using free info on the internet.

I'm very satisfied with this book.Very clear explanations and examples.Contains all the relevant chapters that one needs to get into bioinformatics.

I think this is worth it if you have limited experience with programming and do not wish to dig into it more. Personally, I think that it is better to use other excellent books to learn Perl, R, and any databasing language (suggest MariaDB).

This is a great book, I am very satisfied with it.In fact, this book combines the most popular tools in bioinformatics:Perl, R and MySQL.Some of us may be expert for one or two of these tools. But how to systemically to use them together, this book gives answers.It aslo gives direction of how to go further if you want to master one of these tools.Plus,it has a lot of practical examples which you can easily transform for your own work.And I must say the authors are very responsibe. They answered my questions promptly and in details. I really apprecitate this.Thank you.
