Let me start off by saying I hate not finishing a book; however, I've been trying to read this book for several days now. Each day I only read a small portion because it's just so boring! Kenzie was too much of a "B" word for me. It was okay when I was about 11% into the book, but when I got to 39% and it was the same thing, I couldn't take it anymore! I don't like the idea that she would be thinking one thing but then say the exact opposite to Hayden. The book was too slow and a bit childish to me. There is a bit of suspense in there but I was unable to get to the bottom of it. After days of attempting to read and skipping page after page, I've decided I'm done here. 4.99 down the drain.

"He didn’t like me, I didn’t like him. That was our… thing."Furious Rush is an adrenaline packed enemies to lovers romance that I thoroughly enjoyed. It was a bit slow moving at first, but by about the 40% mark, I was hooked. Mackenzie Cox is a straight laced motorcycle racer who follows the rules while quietly longing for the approval of her father and the respect of everyone else in her male dominated field. Hayden Hayes is a street racing rule breaker that doesn't really care what anyone else thinks. Together, these two are explosive. Like magnets, they push and pull, slinging insults and digs all the while a quiet, unrelenting attraction simmers beneath the surface. When their worlds collide, lines are crossed, the respective codes they each live by are broken, and the course of events that evolves is both unpredictable and completely addictive."I was instantly captivated, and I hated that I was. This guy was neck-deep in a world that twisted my stomach, a world that spat in the face of my sport. My career."This slow burning romance is packed to the brim with angst. The dynamic between Hayden and Kenzie is messy, it's forbidden. It evolves primarily on the precarious line between love and hate. They each race for rival teams... teams that hate each other and where communication between its members is forbidden. But their competition only fuels them, driving then to be better at their sport, better than the other. Their ruthless feuding on and off the racetrack is like gasoline on the smoldering attraction between them... and you just know that when it all comes to a head, it's going to be explosive. The intrigue that surrounds these characters, the secrecy between them, all the uncertainty just kept me enraptured. There's so many layers to pull back about Hayden, about the rivalry between the two racing teams, about who is to blame for the strife on the tracks, about the woman in Hayden's past. You really don't know who to trust, who to believe. You'll read this story with knots in your stomach, just anticipating when the bottom will drop out from beneath everyone involved.SC Stephens weaves together such an emotional, exciting, riveting romance with Furious Rush. The competition on the racetrack juxtaposed with the sexual tension burning between these racers makes for a pulse pounding, addictive storyline that's thrilling in more ways than one. I love the dynamic this author crafted here between Kenzie and Hayden. They bicker, they're competitive, yet they thrive off that competition, they feed off their attraction. The forbidden nature of their working relationship and the impossibility of their romance makes for an unpredictable storyline in and of itself. But throw in the secrets they're both carrying, the rivalry between their racing teams, the suspenseful subplot, the colorful secondary characters, and you have a book that's the total package.Furious Rush is sexy. It's hot. It's romantic. It's exciting. The storyline is layered, the writing is clean. There are moments so steamy, you'll need a cold shower; moments so emotional, so heavy, your heart will break a bit. But center stage is this pulse pounding romance that feels impossible, feels doomed from the start, yet it's rife with a decadent chemistry so tangible, you can't help but be completely invested in the difficult course set before these characters. Furious Rush is an adrenaline-spiked forbidden romance that is completely unpredictable and the surprising twists keep coming, literally, until the very last page.

4 to 4.5 starsMackenzie Cox and Hayden Hayes are the Romeo and Juliet of racing, and S.C. Stephens has given us another book boyfriend to fall in love with!Kenzie is the daughter of a racing legend so she has been immersed in that world for all her life. Her father was blessed with 3 daughters and no sons but she is the only one who felt his love of the sport strongly enough to pursue a career in racing herself. Now she is facing her first season as professional motorcycle racer, and the weight of the world is on her shoulders. Cox Racing is in financial dire straits, and the pressure is on as all expectations fall on Kenzie to win and save the company. Any normal person would have enough on their plate concentrating on navigating their first season, but Kenzie’s father is a difficult taskmaster to say the least. Nothing she does is ever good enough, and he treats her more like an employee than his own flesh and blood.Rival team Benneti Racing has an age old feud with the Cox team due to some really bad blood and history between Kenzie’s father and his former best friend Keith Benneti. There is even a rule between the teams that says any Cox and Benneti riders who are caught fraternizing in any way will be fired which seems pretty extreme but it happens even if two people dare to be friends. And things are about to get way more interesting because it seems Benneti Racing has a new rider, and he is all too familiar to Kenzie.Hayden Hayes has been the bad boy darling of illegal street racing in the area, and now he is trying to leave that life behind by entering the pro circuit. When Kenzie’s mechanic and best friend Nikki needed Kenzie to bail her out of a bad situation after betting on a street race, it was definitely lust at first sight between Hayden and Kenzie. She has far too much on her plate to allow the hottie to get under her skin though, and he sees her as a spoiled princess that had her spot on the team handed to her rather than earning it.They both find themselves drawn to the other though, and it soon becomes apparent that neither person is quite what the other expected. Their hearts and heads tell them two different things, and there is a constant struggle to do what they think they should instead of what they want. Their initial disdain for each other secretly becomes a playful rivalry. Hayden brings out the best in MacKenzie- on and off the track- and she pushes him to be his best too. She can let go of her worries and fears with him and trusts he will take care of her which is a very foreign and scary prospect to her. Self-doubt is Kenzie’s biggest enemy, and it slays her that Hayden can see beneath the surface with such ease to calm her when she feels like a stranger in her own family most of the time. Soon the stress of keeping her time with Hayden a secret starts to wear on her in addition to the already overwhelming burden of the expectations placed on her by her father, and it’s only a matter of time before the house of cards folds. To make things worse, strange things start happening and accidents that shouldn’t occur become more common. The timing coincides with Hayden’s arrival and suspicions are running high that he is involved based on his history and his team affiliation. She can only hope that her instincts are right and that he has nothing to do with it.There is a definite slow burn and build up between these two that makes the payoff that much sweeter when they finally give in. The constant sense of impending doom almost became overwhelming at times, and for as fast paced as things are on the track, I was almost at a point of screaming “get on with it already!” at them when they were off the track. It becomes Kenzie and Hayden against the world, and even they realize what a monumental uphill battle they have before them to even try to be together. Everyone else seems to be against them and wants to keep them apart. I have to wonder- what is with her father’s irrational hatred of Hayden? Is it just that he works for the enemy, or is it something more? And how can he be so callous to Kenzie, his own flesh and blood?Kenzie and Hayden make their fair share of enemies along the way, and it’s not over yet. The past isn’t so willing to let go of either of them, and I have a feeling that uphill battle to find happiness just became a lot steeper based on events in the closing pages. Deciding who to trust is going to be paramount, and I can’t wait to see what happens next. The ending is a bit unresolved to lead into the next book in the series, but it is far from a cliffhanger that would make me want to hurl my Kindle across the room. Furious Rush is an intense ride, and it sucked me in from the very first chapter until the final page of the last chapter.
